C J Chapman, Keele University

I am a Professor of Applied Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Keele.  My research interests are wave theory, aero- and hydro-acoustics, fluid mechanics, elastic waves and vibrations, and asymptotic approximations.

My work involves research, lecturing, setting examinations, and undertaking a variety of public service duties, including examining of PhD theses and undergraduate courses at other universities, refereeing of research papers and grant proposals, and performing various administrative tasks.  The foundation of my work is the writing of original research papers, and seeing them into print and electronic publication.  I was Fellow of Christ's College, Cambridge, and have written a text-book `High Speed Flow'.
